Little League Softball Age Chart.Minor B - Coach/Machine Pitch Softball Ages 6-8
Minor B Fastpitch (Introduction to Softball) is for Girls ages 6-8. Players hit a 10" softball from a pitching machine operated by their Coach. Teams play against other area Little League teams (10-12 games). No scores or standings are kept, and no umpire. The last two weeks of the season may have an introduction to kid pitch play depending on the season. This level's focus is on developing basic fundamental skills and play awareness.

Minor A Softball Ages 8-11
Minor A Fastpitch is for girls ages 8-11, who are ready to play kid-pitch softball. Play is with an 11" softball pitched from 35' by the opposing team's pitcher. Teams play against other area Little League teams. Scores are kept, and games are umpired by volunteer umpires. Players receive a jersey and socks to keep. This level's focus is on refinement of fundamental skills, the addition of player pitching and play awareness. Assessment is required and teams are established by a draft.

Majors Softball Ages 10-12
Majors Softball (Introduction to Competitive Softball) is for girls aged 10-12*. Play is with a 12" softball pitched from 40' by the opposing team's pitcher. Teams play against other area Little League teams. Scores and standings are kept, and games are umpired by volunteer umpires. This level's focus is on the execution of advanced plays and is a competitive level of play. Assessment is required and teams are established by a draft.

Juniors/Seniors Softball Ages 12-16
Juniors Softball is for girls aged 12-14*.
Seniors Softball is for girls aged 13-16*.
Play is with a 12" softball pitched from 43'. Teams play against other area Little League teams with occasional out of area games. Scores and standings are kept, and games are umpired by volunteer umpires. High school players are encouraged to play Little League as well, for playing time. This level's focus is on the execution of advanced plays and is a highly competitive level of play. Assessment is required and teams are established by a draft.
