FME Little League Baseball Divisions

In order to determine your child's little league age for the proper division placement check the Little League Baseball Age Chart.

Single A/Coach Pitch Baseball Ages 6-7 (Minor League)
Single A is a developmental division and is composed of children ages 6-7 years old. This division is for those who played T-ball or skipped T-ball but know how to hit, catch, throw, and run bases. Single A is a semi competitive division, however, coaching emphasis is upon player instruction and development. Children hit from a coach pitcher so they can begin to learn to hit off a live human. Each child must play a minimum of three innings in a six-inning game. Division rules are in-place to encourage player rotation in a variety of positions. Ten players are assigned to field positions each inning, and all roster players bat whether assigned to a field position or not.

AA Baseball/Intro to Kid Pitch Ages 7-9 (Minor League)
The Little League AA baseball program is considered a developmental division with an increasing level of competitive play. Coaches are encouraged to emphasize player instruction and development.  This division is first year kid pitch where kids are pitching from 46 feet, teaching base stealing (not home base) and proper outs and pitching calls.

Home Plate ump will call balls/strikes from behind the mound. Field ump will call basic safe/out and to prevent excessive base running. ex: no infield fly, obstruction, stealing home, interference rule enforcement.

Coaches draft players based upon assessments to form equally talented teams for maximum competitiveness. Each player must play a minimum of three innings in a six-inning game. Nine players are assigned to field positions each inning, and all roster players bat whether assigned to a field or not. Game scores, pitch counts and standings are recorded.

***This is a draft level and all players are drafted to teams based on coach assessments and requests aren't granted unless family based (brothers/sisters on same team).***

AAA Baseball/Intro to Competitive Baseball Ages 9-11 (Minor League)
AAA Minors is the highest level of competition in the minors division and follows all the rules in the Official Little League Rule book. Base stealing is permitted at this division after the ball crosses home plate, and there is a five run limit per inning with no limitation regarding the numbers of batters that can be walked per inning. Playing times can be unequal and only Little League minimums are enforced.  Defensive positioning becomes more specialized; not all kids get to play all positions.

Managers draft players based upon tryout ratings. Each player must play a minimum of three innings in a six-inning game. Coaches focus on developing individual and team skills to field a competitive team and prepare them for the Majors Division. Game scores, pitch counts and standings are recorded. AAA division interlocks with other District 10 leagues to form the game schedule. Upon completion of the regular season, players are eligible to be selected to the Little League All-Star Tournament.

This is a draft division and players are selected to teams based on evaluations at assessments. Returning AAA players are guaranteed to at least return to the AAA level unless they are selected to the Majors division. Requests aren't granted and players are selected to teams based off a draft.
